Causes and side effects of air pollution
Pollution is becoming a major problem for human life. There are many reasons for this. Naturally occurring dust is considered to be one of the causes of air pollution. Factory or forest fires release all kinds of harmful elements into the air, which spreads pollution in the environment. When a forest fire breaks out, the forest burns to ashes, and when the same ash is mixed into the air, pollution spreads. The second biggest reason is population growth.
As the population grows, so do the needs of the people. Use from food to vehicles increases. Due to which the pollution in the environment increases and people fall prey to many diseases. Human health is deteriorating day by day due to air pollution. And it has a detrimental effect on the environment. Pollution depletes the ozone layer. Smoke billows from the chimneys of vehicles and factories. It is playing a major role in environmental pollution.
The basis of air pollution
Carbon monoxide: It is a semi-solid carbon produced by burning fuels like petrol, diesel and wood. It is also caused by cigarettes. It causes a lack of oxygen in the body, which makes us feel sleep deprived.
Carbon dioxide: It is a type of greenhouse gas. Which is produced by burning coal, oil and natural gas.
Chlorofluorocarbons: This is a type of chemical that destroys ozone. When it is used for air conditioners and refrigerators, its particles mix with the air to reach the stratosphere of our atmosphere and mix with other gases to damage the ozone layer. The ozone layer protects animals and plants from the sun's ultraviolet rays. This may be the reason why chlorofluorocarbons are considered to be very dangerous for humans and other biological worlds.
Glass is found in diesel, petrol, battery paint and hair dye. Glass especially affects children. This can lead to poor brain and digestive system. Its side effects can even lead to cancer. The ozone layer is considered to be the highest layer of the stratosphere in the atmosphere. It is considered a special and important gas. Its function is believed to be to prevent the sun's harmful ultraviolet rays from reaching the earth's surface. Ozone affects the surface due to harmful gases emitted from our factories. Due to such gas, water comes in the eyes, even burns.
Nitrogen Oxide: It causes cloudy and acid rain. This gas is released by burning petrol, diesel and coal. This causes many diseases in children, which is seen in winter season.
Suspended molecular substance: It consists of solid fumes in the air in the form of dust particles, which remain for a certain period of time. Which damages the lungs and makes it difficult to breathe.
Sulfur dioxide: When coal is burned in a thermal plant, the gas that comes out of it is sulfur dioxide. Sulfur oxide is also found in the gas emitted when smelting metal and preparing paper. This gas is considered to be very helpful in producing dust and causing acid rain. Sulfur dioxide increases the risk of lung diseases.
Pollution in the environment is seriously affecting human health. We ourselves have no choice but to be active in the reduction and control of all kinds of gases and other elements that spread pollution in the environment.
How to avoid air pollution? : The government should formulate a policy so that employees can work from home. Come to the office one day a week. This is possible because of the current information technology. Let's use bicycles as much as possible. Let's use public transport. Encourage children to go to school transit service instead of taking them to school in private cars. Let's use the same vehicle whenever our family has to go out. This will reduce both fuel consumption and pollution.
Let's take care of the plants around our house. Let's make arrangements not to turn on the electricity when it is not needed, to run the cooler, fan, air conditioner only when necessary, otherwise keep it off. If the weeds in the yard and garden are dry, do not burn them but make compost manure. Test your vehicle for pollution every three months. Use only lead-free gasoline. Indoor pollution tends to be lower than outside. So stay indoors when pollution is high. Even so, owning one is still beyond the reach of the average person.
Yesterday we survived and today we are. Survive today or live tomorrow, otherwise who will see tomorrow and live. Therefore, let us be active participants in the reduction and control of all kinds of gases and other elements that pollute the environment, and motivate others as well. The job of the government body is to issue the same advertisement and to hold a morning procession to celebrate Environment Day every year for awareness.
