Environmental protection is today's challenge

Even though Nepal is rich in natural resources, the heart of this country, Kathmandu, is being polluted. Even if the body is clean and the heart is unhealthy, he cannot be a healthy person. If the body is not healthy, he cannot walk happily and happily. This is exactly the situation we are in. Nepal is known to the world for its natural beauty. Tourists from the developed world come here to enjoy the beauty, but as soon as they land at Tribhuvan International Airport, they sniff. They will not be able to stay in the capital for more than two days as they are suffering from nose, ear, throat, eye and skin diseases until they leave Kathmandu Valley.

The only metropolis in Nepal, the main entrance to the country's capital Kathmandu Valley is the main stigma. In order to widen the road from Kalanki to Koteshwar via Lalitpur on the ring road built by the Chinese government, it is seen that dust has been blown away in the thick smoke of the forest or thick fog and dust of January. It is difficult to imagine how a person can live in a place where he cannot breathe. The situation has been dire for some time now. The work of laying pipes for the purpose of fetching water from Melamchi has been disrupted and the settlement has been covered with dust as road expansion has been given priority.

The settlement of Kathmandu is now becoming impossible. It is natural for citizens to panic. Kathmandu is in turmoil due to increasing population. It has become difficult for the local bodies to keep the narrow streets clean. Not only is the environment polluted and dirty, but the people here are also short of drinking water. Similarly, if the population pressure increases in Kathmandu, even if Melamchi water comes, it will be difficult to meet the shortage. It will not only take one-and-a-half years to bring Melamchi water, but also fraudulent implementation in between.

There is a clear experience. The constructed roads have not been able to withstand even a single rain. In such a case, there is no need to go to any expert to prove corruption.

As the stone fountains, wells and dug wells are drying up, only the rich used tanker water yesterday and now the poor are also forced to use tanker water. Even lower class people are forced to use paper in toilets. People who have not been able to take a bath for a long time have started using 'body lotion'.

The more dense the population, the more pollution. But even the cities near Kathmandu have not been able to avoid this pollution. To the south of Kathmandu Metropolitan City lies Kirtipur Municipality. Although 1 to 5 out of 19 wards of Kirtipur are densely populated, other areas like Tribhuvan, Chobhar, Bhajangal Machhegaun, Salyanthan and Toudah are sparsely populated. Out of these 19 wards, 17 wards have the main bus park from Kirtipur to Kathmandu. From here the bus runs every minute. As it is located in the courtyard of Kirtipur, people from 75 districts are found here.

So this place is tense due to the crowd of people and the pressure of vehicles. The impact of the environment is direct and indirect, which is also global, but the local problems we have created have affected the locals more. In this case, mental stress is another problem. Stress in a person's brain due to the environment causes tumors, which is a big problem. Experts say that dust, smoke and noise pollution are contributing to the rise in cancer and tumor cases today.

One hundred ropanis of land in the town planning of 17 wards in Kirtipur was taken by the city development of Kathmandu for systematic planning 13 years ago. The town planning scheme from Nagaun to Machhegaun had failed against the people as there was no development of settlement in this place. Even now, it is not possible to send water to the two-inch pipe lying on the left and right side of the road 13 years ago in these 17 wards. This is a sad fact of town planning. The Municipal Drinking Water Corporation and the Town Planning Committee should have taken interest in this. Due to the non-compliance of the policy and rules by the concerned bodies, there is a lot of confusion. Even though there is water in the milk pond, it has not been brought to good use. In other areas where there is no water source, there will be water problem.

Kirtipur is just one example. The situation in the area around the capital is not much better than that of the metropolis. Especially the whole Kathmandu ditch is suffocated by dust, smoke and noise. In such a situation, the number of foreign tourists has increased. Probably, the foreigners are forced to land in the valley only because the international airport is in Kathmandu. Instead of resolving this type of problem as soon as possible, misunderstandings over road widening have increased. The people have taken refuge in the Supreme Court and the movement. As a result, the people of the valley are forced to live in tears for a long time.
