About 6.5 million people worldwide die each year from air pollution.
It is seen that 11.6 percent of the total population dies due to pollution. It is estimated that 56 million 34 thousand 483 people worldwide die annually.
In developing countries like Nepal, the number of deaths due to high levels of pollution has reached alarming levels, according to a report by the World Health Organization. From Nepal's point of view, 90 percent of the lives are lost due to pollution.
According to Dr. Khem Karki, Chairman of the Nepal Health Research Council, two out of every three deaths in Asian countries are due to air pollution. He said that most of the pollution occurs during load shedding.
Similarly, in the case of Kathmandu Valley, pollution from brick kilns is increasing, he said. According to him, factories and industries should be run in a systematic manner to reduce pollution.
It is said that the air pollution is increasing due to the smoke coming from the generators that run during load shedding. The study showed that 57.54 percent of air pollution occurred during that time. According to him, air pollution is maximum in the morning and evening than in the afternoon. He said that one lakh 36 thousand people die every year in Nepal alone due to pollution.

According to him, 72 percent of heart, 14 percent of asthma and 14 percent of lung diseases are caused by pollution. Pollution has also been linked to an increase in pneumonia and more problems for traffic police.
According to Bhupesh Adhikari, an air expert at the International Center for Integrated Mountain Development (ISIMOD), air pollution poses an additional challenge to human livelihood. He said that thousands of people have lost their lives every year due to this famine.
He said that pollution is also causing problems in landing of planes at international airports. He said that there was a risk in landing due to visual problems of the aircraft.
He expressed concern that if the concerned bodies do not pay attention in time to reduce pollution in an underdeveloped country like Nepal, it will bring long-term problems. He emphasized the need to look for ways to reduce pollution.
According to him, air pollution has been affected even when people cough. He argues that air pollution is increasing day by day, especially from the vehicles plying on the roads.
According to Prof. Dr. Jivraj Pokhrel, Vice-Chancellor of Nepal Academy of Science and Technology (NAST), state investment should be increased to control air pollution.
